Located in the beautiful mountains
of central Colorado, this earthship
The following video tour and still pictures will introduce you to
this beautiful home .
The home sits in in a picturesque mountain valley at the south end of the town
of Guffey, Colorado. The town, formerly know as Freshwater, is noted for
its ponds and springs - one of which supplies water to the the house.
The main entrance to the home is through the door on the west side. This
entry could be modified to make it a one car garage. The room inside
occupies the first of 5 of the "tire U's" and is presently used for storage.
Upon entering the main living area of the home, you enter a long hallway that
runs the entire length. South facing windows fill the whole house with
light. A watering system provides easy watering for the planters.
Directly to the right upon entering the home is the homes full bathroom.
This bright bathroom features the two pedestal sinks, a tub, and a composting
toilet (not shown in this picture).
The second "tire U" features the living room. This is the largest room of
the home and provides plenty of space for entertaining and relaxation.
A spacious commercial quality kitchen occupies the next U. Stainless steel
appliances will delight even the most particular cook. Behind the kitchen,
a large pantry provides abundant storage space.
The bedroom features these beautiful views looking south out of the windows.
The final "U" is the homes office. This room could easily function as a
second bedroom. The door to the right leads to the partial bath.
The half bath has a composting toilet and the sink that you see here. It's
location at the east end of the house provides a convenient alternative to
walking down to the main bathroom at the home's other end.
Immediately out side of the east door sits this lovely deck overlooking a
fish-filled pond
below.
This view shows the home form the deck. The panels above the windows
provide solar heated hot water. If it more heat is required the home has a
traditional water heater The
home is on-grid but could easily be converted to off grid use.
