the entry to the home and enhance the Northern New Mexico feel of the
portal.
Upon entering, you come to a large great room.
Here the graceful curves of the thick strawbale walls, blend
harmoniously with the stained concrete floors, tongue-and-groove
ceiling, and plastered walls. Large south-facing windows brightly
illuminate this area which serves a the living room for the home and
also give it a very energy efficient passive solar design.
The windows also bring in the unspoiled views of the
high desert and distant mountains.
A gas - log stove sitting between the windows
supplements the heat and provides cozy ambiance on cool nights.
Bibliophiles will love the plentiful shelves with aspen
"latilla" accents.
The magnificent kitchen is a cook's dream. As part
of the great room, the cook can interact with others in the house.
Large concrete countertops give plenty of space for food preparation.
The large windows not only provide a wonderful view east towards Wheeler
Peak, but also combine with the abundant overhead light to illuminate
this space. A large pantry and laundry area sit in a side room
to the left of this picture.
The spacious and elegant bathroom features beautiful
copper dual sinks set in the complementary green countertop. A
propane heater warms this room. The bathroom also features the
tiled shower seen here, a toilet and bidet. One door from the bath
leads into the living area, the other to the master bedroom.
The French doors (as seen above from the Master Bedroom)
provide an elegant entry to the master bedroom.
The plastered strawbale walls of the master bedroom give
it a classy rustic but elegant feel. Its high ceilings add to the
spacious feel.
A walkway of stepping stones leads from a private
sheltered patio to the studio/guesthouse.

The studio/guesthouse attractively complements the main
house. It's covered Portal provides outdoor space to enjoy as
